According to the Law of Ukraine "On Consumer Protection", within 14 days from the date of purchase, goods of good quality that the buyer did not like for any reason can be returned.

Specialists of the Consumer Protection Department of the Main Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Dnipropetrovska oblast remind the basic rules that will allow the buyer to return money or exchange goods.

In order to return money or exchange goods, the buyer must have a receipt (cash or sales receipt).

Pursuant to Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Consumer Rights", goods of good quality may be exchanged if the payment document issued to the consumer together with the goods sold is retained. The receipt is the basis for the exchange or return of goods and proof that it was in this store that you purchased the goods.

Make sure that no more than 14 days have passed since the purchase.

The consumer has the right to exchange goods of good quality within fourteen days, excluding the day of purchase, unless a longer period is announced by the seller (Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Consumer Protection"). The last day when you can request a refund and take back the goods of good quality will be the 14th day of the period that began the day after the purchase.

Check the product for its original appearance and for signs of wear or damage.

Goods of good quality are exchanged for similar goods if they have not been used and if their presentation, consumer properties, seals, labels are preserved, and if at the time of the exchange a similar product is not on sale, the consumer has the right to either purchase any other goods from the available assortment with the corresponding recalculation of the cost, or to terminate the contract and receive a refund in the amount of the value of the returned goods, or to exchange the goods for a similar product at the first receipt of the relevant product for sale.

The money paid for the goods is returned to the consumer on the day of termination of the agreement, and if it is impossible to return the money on the day of termination of the agreement, at another time agreed by the parties, but not later than within 7 days.

Please note that if, for example, you bought a dress or shoes and used them on the very first day, and then realized that the size or color did not suit you, you cannot return such goods, as there will be slight but still noticeable traces of wear, which will automatically put the goods in the "used" category. If it turns out that the product is of inadequate quality, it can only be exchanged under warranty.

If a representative of a retailer refuses to exchange the goods or refund the money, the only option to resolve the dispute is to go to court.

To do this, record the fact of contacting the store, i.e., hand over an application with legitimate demands for the exchange of goods to the store representative for signature, and if they refuse to accept the application, it should be sent by mail or courier and keep proof of sending.

We also remind you that there is a list of goods of good quality that cannot be exchanged (returned), approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 172 dated 19.03.1994 "On Implementation of Certain Provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Consumer Protection". The list of goods of good quality that cannot be exchanged (returned) includes: food, medicines and drugs, and sanitary items. The full list of goods is available at https://bit.ly/3bBgfyW.
